Although Google, Facebook, Apple and Microsoft are tightening their grip on the digital advertising market, the mobile community could yet take a slice of this expanding cake. With access to huge volumes of data, long-standing brands and a major role in handset distribution, telcos still could become trusted intermediaries between consumers and advertisers. But after several ‘false starts,’ does the mobile community have the skills, knowledge and expertise to maximise this opportunity? What lessons can telcos learn from the internet giants to ensure they build scale fast enough?

Severe weather warning - The epic struggle to control the cloud.

The advent of cloud services presents a major opportunity for telcos to return to growth. Telcos’ connectivity is crucial, but they currently lack the software expertise to prevent Microsoft, Google, Amazon and IBM siphoning off much of the value. Can telcos re-assert their presence and build their capabilities to become the real kings of the cloud?
